Eunice wrote later that the buggy harness dropped around the horseâ€Ÿs knees and scared him. When the horse ran, the buggy turned over. Robert Andrew sustained multiple injuries: all his ribs were broken and his legs were broken in three places. He lived for three weeks at his sonâ€Ÿs Johnâ€Ÿs house. One night about sundown, he told his daughter Eunice, â€œHoney, Iâ€Ÿm afraid I canâ€Ÿt stay with you much longer. You be good to Mama.â€ He died about 8:00 that same evening.
