Preston Cemetery, Preston, Webster County, Georgia In 1908 Robert and Missouri were injured when their horse became spooked and ran. Eunice wrote later that the buggy harness dropped around the horse‟s knees and scared him. When the horse ran, the buggy turned over. Robert Andrew sustained multiple injuries: all his ribs were broken and his legs were broken in three places. He lived for three weeks at his son‟s John‟s house. One night about sundown, he told his daughter Eunice, “Honey, I‟m afraid I can‟t stay with you much longer. You be good to Mama.” He died about 8:00 that same evening.
